I have to start by saying this cover is one of the best I have ever seen! Talk about eye     candy!!! I’d definitely brake for those tentacles! The model image was provided by the extremely talented and lovely Jenn LeBlanc. Girl, my lens envies your lens. The actual cover design was created by my Chick Crush of the Century Stella Price, proving once again that this woman’s talents reach far beyond the written word. I can’t wait to see this book in print. I already have a spot picked out on the very top of my overflowing bookshelf for it 🙂

Synopsis

Ariston Dago is a sentry, a protector for his people. He watches the waters of his territory, keeping his god and his race safe both above and below the murky depths around Venice, Italy. When he’s compelled to save a human that falls from a transport, his life is forever changed, because the human he saves, Teagan Moss, is his mate, the first human to ever mate a Dagonite.

Teagan Moss is the kind of woman to shoot first and then question the body later. When she wakes with a Hydro bomb strapped to her body, she knows someone is going to pay for trying to kill her, and that she is going to need the help of the sexy exotic Dagonite to find out who exactly needs that bullet in their brain. What she doesn’t count on, is the scorching attraction she feels for the male who is so certain she is his.

Thrust into solving the mystery surrounding the attempt on his mate’s life, Ari and Teagan uncover more than the answers they are looking for, and the truths they unearth could send the world into another war

My Review

Never in my wildest imaginings would I have thought up an Octopus Shifter. I mean really? I’m Scots Irish so of course I’ve heard of Selkies, but beyond that my idea of shifters has always been land dwelling predators. When Anastasia first started talking about this series, I scrambled to conjure up an image of Dagonites. My mind’s eye was woefully inadequate. These shifters are HOT!!!

Eternal Echoes opens in a post-apocalyptic Earth. During the midst of the Great Cataclysm (year 2020) the gods of old reemerge to restore balance and peace. Dagonites are the children of Dagon, the Octopus God. Ariston Dago is a Warrior Dagonite and great, great grandson of Dagon.

Teagan Moss is an ambassador for human/shifter relations. She’s also human and a veritable bad ass. When she is tossed into the sea with a deadly hydro bomb strapped to her chest, it is up to Ariston to save her. Together, they will have to find out who wants Teagan dead and why if they hope to preserve the delicate peace that has been established between the various shifter nations.

The world building in this book is AMAZING!! It’s very detailed, easily understandable and it does not overwhelm you with a bunch of rules and “if/thens.” The glossary in the back of the book was also a nice detail to have.

I love Ariston! He’s funny, kind of a smart ass, definitely an Alpha and oh so sexy. I love a man in a kilt and those tentacles…Well, you’ll just have to read the book now won’t you!?!

Teagan is pretty much “Every Bad Ass Girl- USA.” Self-sufficient, smart, strong and just a tiny bit vulnerable. She’s what I look for in the perfect heroine.

The chemistry between Ariston and Teagan sparks the second they make contact and becomes a roaring inferno as the pages turn. Again…those tentacles…

I really can’t recommend this book enough. Eternal Echoes is a genre breaking, sexy, adventurous romp into a brand new world.

Here’s a little something something about Desires of a Dark Lord

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Ordered to claim the soul of a particular human woman, rare incubus demon, Ronan accepts the challenge with the promise of power and freedom.

He meets his target—curvaceous attorney, Ginevra Gimes and vows to deliver her every desire so long as she promises her soul in return. But when the two connect on a level neither one expects, Ginevra and Ronan succumb to mutual passion.

While an undeniable bond exists between them, can he surrender her to another or will he risk eternal slavery to claim her for himself

Excerpt

The elusive depths of Ronan’s eyes glistened with concealed intent. “My species thrives on sex and seduction, Ginevra. We crave it, thrive on it for nourishment, strength, satisfaction. Humans tend to cooperate with any desire when my kind is involved. Even now, as much as you resist, you want to give in. With my assistance, my den master is guaranteed success. I’m insurance. The ultimate weapon.”

He said it directly, but there was an unmistakable swell of pride to it as well, power. Ronan stood a force to be reckoned with, and he chafed at the chains holding him. It didn’t matter what other feelings he had about the matter. She was a means to an end.

She pushed the thought away. “You still haven’t narrowed down the specifics. How do you acquire my soul?”

He laughed wickedly. “Simple. I bed you three times. After our third time together, your soul is transported to hell and will be at Braddock’s command. Then he’ll grant my freedom.”

“I’m going to give away my soul to sleep with you?” Ginevra stared at him, then burst out in a fit of harsh laughter. “Seriously? I mean, I know you’re an incubus, but you must have one hell of an ego if you believe something like that.”

Ronan went still. In the space of an indrawn breath, she was enveloped by his heat, that intense spice scent. Though most of the kitchen separated them, it felt as though his body was pressed against hers, his mouth covering every inch of her skin, her body writhing, begging for his touch and her soul screaming for him.

His powerful display was a ruthless takeover of her senses, and when he pulled it back, she was gripping the counter to remain upright. Her gaze snapped to his face, and she saw she’d insulted him in a way he’d never known.

“You doubt my ability, Ginevra? I’d bet my freedom that in another moment, I’d find the skin of your nipples puckered so tight, the mere touch of your clothing would be blissfully painful. Just like my mouth against that same hardened flesh, the heat of my breath, my tongue covering that very place, would make you scream in ecstasy. Care to test my theory?” he said with a flick of his tongue across his lower lip.

Ronan Brimstone was devastatingly handsome and he made her ache with a need so profound, some might kill for the release he could bring. But she wasn’t ready to pay the price for a fleeting moment of pleasure. But those lips…full lips she’d never grow tired of nibbling on. She shook her head free of fantasy. “You need to go, Ronan,” she said, catching her breath.

His expression softened. “I’m sorry, love. But I can’t leave until my task is complete.” Angered by her body’s betrayal, a fuse snapped deep inside, in a place where she didn’t know fear and gave the term toe-to-toe a literal meaning when she kicked the tip of his designer shoe with her flip flop.

“You should leave of your own accord before you grow tired of rejection, Ronan. Go back to your master and tell him to find another human. This one will fight you to the last breath. You. Will. Fail.”

She said it with an upward tilt of her chin and a determined gaze. In answer, his amused gaze swept her sparkling flip-flop and then he dipped his head, lips hovering dangerously close to hers.

“As I stated previously, I can’t leave. You spoke the words of your own free will and invited me in, which means I’m bonded to you until my task is complete. I will tempt you night, day and in your dreams, to a point that you’ll want me with such a maddening need, you’ll beg for my touch before the end.” He caressed her lower lip with his thumb. “I do enjoy a challenge almost as much as I enjoy sex. That said, consider yours…accepted.”

My Review

The Jack Ass Hero- every good book has one. You know- he’s the egotistical, self-serving….Jackass. He’s flawed in half a dozen ways and the hope string is holding on by a single thread. What separates the goods from the greats is how they are redeemed. Jae Lynne Davies is a master at Jackass Hero redemption. She writes characters you want to hate and then makes you fall head-over-heels in love with them. There’s none of that hokey pokey turn around business. Issues are faced head on. Real and raw. You’re not going to know how it ends until it does. You’re going to hate him, love him and hate him some more.

Ronan Brimstone is a special kind of Jackass Hero. Seriously, you’d have to buy an extra seat on the flight just to fit his ego. But he’s also got some major hang-ups. You see, Ronan is a rare incubus demon bound to service and trapped in hell. He wants out. He doesn’t care how he goes about it, he just wants out. When opportunity strikes, he’s more than willing to put his powers to work to get what he wants, even if it isn’t ‘exactly’ what he wants.

Enter Ginevra Gimes, the curvaceous family law attorney fighting to protect children. Her pure soul is Ronan’s chance.

Honesty is law in demon relations and Ronan makes no qualms about why he’s here. He needs her soul and she is going to give it to him of her own free will.

Or is she? Ginevra may have some of her own hang-ups, but she’s also a fighter. Strong willed, resilient and ready to go to bat for what she believes, Ginevra won’t go down without a damn good fight.

Go back to your master and tell him to find another human. This one will fight you to the last breath. You. Will. Fail.”

And just like every Alpha demon in the world, Ronan sees it for what it is- a challenge. “Accepted.”

From the moment Ronan and Ginevra meet, the sparks literally fly off the pages. I kept thinking “train wreck!! Look away. No. Don’t look away. Gaaaaa” See, there’s a little catch to this bargain Ronan made with his den master. Once he secures her soul, she no longer belongs to Ronan. Is he willing to risk deeper imprisonment to keep her, or can he let her go, condemn her pure soul to hell so he can move up in the ranks?

I was turning pages as fast as my more poor abused Kindle could handle waiting to see how this one would end. Can Jae pull it off? Can she fix this mess they’re in? You’ll have to read Desires of a Dark Lord to find out!
